I was told that the Orange Empire railway museum's Prarie, VC2, had a minor collision damaging the front end. Is there any information on this?

Unless it happened after I walked away from the locomotive at 6pm Sunday, the locomotive has not been involved in any collisions recently.

I have since learned that something in the front end is apart. Cylinder or something. Perhaps that was seen and mistakingly reported as something broken or "Crashed".

Anything "apart" would be for routine maintenance between monthly runs. The horse is scheduled to run April 28 & 29. I am unaware of anything untoward and I write the Museum newsletter so I would likely hear any scuttlebutt. Check your source and confirm that they have more than a casual interest or passing observation with OERM's steam operations. Jeff is a stalwart on our Steam Team. His word is good!

To elaborate on Corey's comment, the VC2 is currently down for its annual and some minor running gear work. This past Saturday and Sunday, we removed the engineers side main rod and made from adjustments to the big end bearing brass. We also removed the cylinder head and replaced some studs.

The locomotive has not been involved in any recent collision. We believe, however, that at some point in the distant past the locomotive was involved in a collision that damaged the right cylinder, R1 driving wheel hub, and R1-R2 connecting rod. Perhaps it is this incident that is being referred to and simply the dates are being confused.
