Biggest Pacific

Said to be the biggest 4-6-2s built, this one appears to be just out of the backshop at Chicago in 1948. Too bad none survived, just a nice photo.

Bob,
The 2900's were the Northwestern's largest 4-6-2s but I believe the three Omaha Road (C.St.P.M.&O.) Pacifics numbered 600-602 were the largest and heaviest ever built. The 600s weighed in at 341,200 pounds and developed 64,600 lbs of tractive effort. For Pacifics, they were built quite late in November 1930.
