The Interchange was down for a hair over 3 minutes. An Ethernet switch failed, and its backup had to be started manually. Normally, the changeover should have been almost instantaneous.

My apologies.

Three minutes!!! What a failure of trust. You shall be forced to sit on the comfy chair...

You're apologizing for 3 minute outage? We should be congratulating you on such a speedy and effective response to the problem...

Geez Doug, how about 30 lashes with a linguine, not even al dente and we call it even?

If only the electric company would have 3 minute outages and apologize for them....

Ooooh no! Not the comfy chair!

But seriously, thanks for the kind words. Technology often frustrates the best of intentions. And in this case, an automation system whose operation should have been completely transparent....um.... wasn't.

Hopefully it'll do better in the future.

Regards,
Doug

Reminds me of the old joke...

Welcome aboard the brand new Boeing 797 airliner. This is your captain speaking, an IBM XB1297 auto-pilot robot. We're cruising at an altitude of 40,000 feet en route to Denver.

Today's flight will be totally computer controlled. By eliminating the pilot, we avoid any chance of human error. So sit back and relax, knowing that absolutely nothing can go wrong... can go wrong... can go wrong... can go wrong... can go wrong...
