At Paso Robles, California. With this info from the RITS list: LA QUINTA (4-4-2) 1969 Finlay Fun Time Tours STONES RIVER 1994 Sold at auction 1995 seen at Paso Robles, CA LA JOLLA (12) 1969 Finlay Fun Time Tours GLEN ANNIE 1994 Sold at auction 1995 seen at Paso Robles, CA http://www.sanluisobispocounty.com/phot ... hotoID=198 I believe these were built for the Golden Rocket, which never operated with that name, but remained the Golden State, a joint RI/SP train. And this round end sleeper/observation,apparently from the SLSF/MKT Texas Special: http://www.sanluisobispocounty.com/phot ... hotoID=197 |

Those cars are still there and are open for people to tour and sit in during the winery tours and wine tastings. They were moved on their own wheels from the LA area and were then trucked in from the SP main line (located several miles to the west of the winery). The winery has made minimal modifications to the cars from their Finlay Tours appearance. All three cars were built by Pullman-Standard in 1948. |

Yes, the two mid-train Pullmans were built for the "Golden Rocket." Findlay Fun-Time Tours operated these cars and others during the 1960s and into the 70s. Changes with Amtrak are probably the reason for the end of the tour business. There was another 12-DBR car built for the train was named La Palma. No idea what happened to it. The tail-car from Finlay Fun-time tours is the former Joseph Pulitzer from the Texas Special. I wonder what happened to these cars. Buy the way, Finley had a Santa Fe box car for parts storage; when the passenger cars were sold box box car went to OERM. |
