Another CW shot. Both these were scrapped, but sister 2-6-2 21 still exists in Mexico - see Sam King's article on the RyPN home page:

I remember reading about CW having to ad weight to the 46 after the switch to a tender engine. Does anyone know any details of her conversion?

Where did her tender come from?

Rayonier 111 was a tank mallet with a tender. The tender was a slope back and if you look closely at the above pic you can see where the CWR "squared off" the tank.

CWR 46's ballasting was chiefly in the form of old 90lb rail bolted to the running boards. I heard she was still a slippery beast and was only good for a couple of more cars than 2-8-2 #45.

Are 45, 46, 21 and 14 the only CW steamers to survive?

Post subject:  CW Status Question

To my knowledge, those are the only steam locomotives remaining. One question:

A few years ago, the CW was still a "real" common carrier railroad, that paid into RR Retirement and even had a union. What is its status today?
