I was watching Gunsmoke on TV land this weekend and saw parts of a two part episode called "Snow Train" This episode had some great cab shots as well as oustide views of the engine as well. My first gut feeling was that this was Sierra #28. The engine was painted up with the number 8. Then for a moment I got a glimpse of a trailing truck under the fire box. It is a Black Hills Central 2-6-2, very much alive and well. In fact she went to New Mexico last year for a movie gig. That Gunsmoke episode lives in my DVR,as well as "The Bullet" |

Hi, Was it "The Bullet" or "Snow Train" that had the loco lettered for Burlington Northern? Thanks. DOug |

It was "The Bullet" that had Sierra#3 lettered for Burlington Northern. In "Snow Train" the train was operated by a Burlington Northern crew. |

I saw the first part of 'Snow Train" a few months ago, and what I want to know is how those pesky mountains managed to spring up between Dodge City and Denver, which was where that train was said to be heading!! I must have missed them on my last drive from Kansas to Colorado........ |
