I noticed, as I'm sure several of you did, a nice looking table top poster for a SAM shortline excursion route to open next year in south Georgia.

A quick search on the 'net revealed this site for some more details: http://www.samshortline.com/

Can someone add some details about the equipment?

One thought: It's amazing to see the state of Georgia back in the passenger business after ridding itself of the Atlanta-based New Georgia Railroad operation in 1994!

The cars are recycled heritage fleet with a diesel from the local shortline for power.

I have already found a shortline route from Savannah to that new excursion line just in case...............maybe we can doublehead 2-8-0s with SERM 21 in a couple years.

Might as well dream big. The line as planned is an economic development project under state subsidy rather than real passenger service. GA is rumored to be genuinely talking about intrastate AMTRAK since no room for more traffic lanes around Hotlanta.

Dave,

Amen on the doubleheader! Maybe we'll even put 21 back to TAG #201!!! (We'll keep the power reverse, though.)
