In original 1955 paint, here in 1967. It would rattle your teeth out, but pull anything you put behind it. Still in existance in Connecticut, but I don't think it has run in several years.

Correct CVRA 7,

She is down currently due to wire problems, namely fiber wrapped rubber insulated original wires. We knew we had a problem when the Ground Fault relay kept popping, but couldn't find the source. That was until we tried to start her on a humid morning following a cold night. Because the electrical cabinet shares a wall with the rear sand box all the wires were soaking wet. Luckily at that time she had bad batteries, and we were jumping her from the 44 tonner, directly to the Knife switch and the electrical cabinet was open. According to the Brakeman who was in the cab with the engineer, it looked like there was a welder working in the electrical cabinet as soon as the engineer pressed the start button.

Luckily the sparks were jumping through the water on the loom and not making big arcs, so no damage or fires started.

Here is how she currently looks. http://photos.nerail.org/showpic/?photo=2006102319530422155.jpg
One of our members has repainted the roof, nose, cab and engineer's side. Currently he is removing the paint from the rear railings then it is on to the fireman's side of the hood.
This is how the other side looks http://photos.nerail.org/showpic/?200610082304543151.jpg

Take care,

Rich C
