I'm surprised that someone here has yet mention that this pioneering heritage railway was one of the first to turn to oil, and now is going back to coal.

Someone rang me during the week - in the course of our conversation I was told that they'd already had some lineside fires.......

Gavin,

I take it they have not returned to the use of Porta's Gas Producer Combustion System (GPCS) as previously successfully used on locomotive Linda? The GPCS was proven to improve combustion effiency, power, AND reduce spark throwing and hence lineside fires.
