Looking very tired at Oakland in 1988. Note rusted lower panels.

The date on that photo does not sound right. UP donated three WP F-7's to museums shortly after the UP-WP merger back in 1982. The WP had donated #913 to the California State Railroad Museum during its opening ceremonies back in 1981.

I suspect that photo was taken in 1978.

The 918 was donated to the Pacific Locomotive Association in '82 but was returned to Oakland for storage after the PLA was forced to vacate the Castro Point site. It arrived with the first hospital train in '86 and remained there until Jan. '05, when the second brought it to Niles Canyon. GP-7 #713 and Santa Fe caboose 999081, seen in the above picture, are also part of the PLA collection and are both currently in service on the NCRy. (The 918 was also put back in service in the past month or two)

In addition to Ed's comments, the 918 has been completely restored. See http://www.trainweb.org/wp918d/ for the story of the restoration.
