Wilkes Barre Times Leader article on siderod Vulcan that is being restored: It would be cool to see this engine, siderods reciprocating furiously even at restricted speed-pulling a dinner train along the Susquehanna River! http://www.timesleader.com/news/2007052 ... n_ART.html |

Even though I am somewhat local to this, I am still trying to figure out the details of this dinner train. Does he mean the Erie Lackawanna dining car group or does he have some other dining car in mind? |

The ELDCPS isn't necessarily the only "ball game" in town. I seem to recall that parties affiliated with the former Pocono Northeast RR in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (1982-1993) owned at least two ex-Amtrak cars, including I think one diner. I think one of those individuals, who was barely out of high school at that time, is now affiliated somehow with the Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad, the Alco refuge. And there is, not coincidentally, a fair deal of overlap between the D-L and the ELDCPS, I understand........... |

As someone associated with the project I can say that details have yet to be worked out on where the coaches will be coming from. The first priority right now is getting the engine restored to operations. I have some recent photographs that should be posted on the net sometime in the next few days of the engine at RMDI. |
