7312, as many of you may know, survives today at Strasburg Railroad #31.

Bob -

I know you usually only include old steam photographs if there is some tie in to rail preservation. Are you saying that this ugly old 0-6-0T still survives today?

Yes, on display at the museum in Ottawa. It was part of the CN collection, and occasionally got towed around with 4-4-0 40 and some old passenger cars to various events, part of the time by GT 2-6-0 713, previously at Ottawa but now at Delson. They did this into the 1960s, something they wouldn't dream of today. If I run across photos of the museum train, I'll post them.

Well Bob, I guess I'm surprised! Thanks for the info. Look forward to seeing the photos if you ever find them.

I should have known 7105 also still exists today as CNR #247 at the Canada Museum of Science and Technology. It has not been on public display for many years now though. It is in storage in a warehouse behind the museum along with #40 and CPR 1201. I found a photo of 247 on SteamLocomotive.Info, but the quality isn't the greatest.

Jason - You are absolutely right of course. I mispoke! My apologies. ACTUALLY, there is no such thing as an ugly steam locomotive, PERIOD! In the case of CNR #7105 (#247), I should have said that she was a locomotive that has character!
