OK - please provide a link for your favorite web page of a railroad museum. IMHO - the best web page answers the basic questions of who, what, where, how and why right up front for a first time visitor with no prior experience and provides the opportunity to dig deeper into history and story lines. Any candidates - and, no, it's not ours at psrm. |

I happen to like: http://www.lsrm.org/Home/Home.asp and http://www.northshorescenicrailroad.org/Home/Home.asp Which are linked together, making it easy for the public to find under either name, and showing the full array of services, both at the museum and the ride. |

Not a museum in the truest sense, but a great starter for railway history that links the various regions of Nova Scotia to its railway history and if you choose to, links are included to the rail related museums in the province. http://www.novascotiarailwayheritage.com/index.htm |

Take a look at www.wwfry.org. The home page offers information to both the public and railfans, with links to pages offering as much or as little detail as one might care to have. And it is updated periodically, something decidedly lacking on some web sites. |

RMNE's page will eventually have the rolling stock roster, more equipment/artifact photos, etc. Right now, our main aim is to make it appeal to the families/soccer moms, not the hard-core railfans. |

As a prejudiced observer I like The Western Railway Museum site www.wrm.org . The site is designed for family groups and casual visitors. They constitue by far the largest number of museum visitors. Rosters and other informations for rail enthusiasts or museum professionals also is available on the site but require clicking on the appropriate tab for access. fk |

Your website is as well-done as the rest of your museum. Nice use of old-style poster graphics and typefaces, too. And, the presentation of financial and visitor information is refreshing. You might want to carefully check the narrative about the Jensen Carhouse; a certain word needs an "L". That is a spectacular building and one that you all must be extremely proud of. Howard P. Ours is at http://www.scrm.org. I originally set up our website about 1995. About 2001 or 2002, internal politics ended my input on the site. The current site design dates from that timeframe. The front page uses a lot more gee-whiz design features than mine did, but the overall site structure is essentially the same, with a roster, schedule and fare info, news that isn't updated often enough, membership form, etc. |
