Hello, You may recal an earlier thread discussing various sources of Conductors Uniforms. Of course, Transquip provides a nice uniform, I've seen a few, but it was a bit out of my price range. Someone suggested a fire dress uniform. I found myself down at the local Police/Fire uniform supply house today and picked up a jacket and pants of the "Flying Cross" brand, seen here: http://www.leonuniform.com/Fechheimer_38803.htm For the price, I don't think you can beat it. Well made, and even just by changing the buttons it looks like a railroad uniform jacket. I got the jacket in the next size up from my normal suit size so it looks more like a "sack style" coat. The pocket flaps on the front are for show only and could be removed. Not immediately, but I do plan on having real pockets put into the outside of the coat to mimic the pockets on a conductor's jacket. As for a vest, I went with the local uniform supplier for Metrolink. They are a custom-made item. For the rest of you, Howard Uniform makes a nice vest. It can be seen here under the "Transit" link on the home page. http://www.howarduniform.com/ As for a hat and buttons, I went with Transquip. Good customer service, I've had one of the hats for years, and it has given me good service. So if your conductors and trainmen (and women) are looking for a way to put together an authentic-style uniform for a lesser price, the "Class A" fireman's jacket is the way to go. It's even available in a double-breasted format if you want to achieve that turn-of the 20th century look. |
