Post subject:  More B&O CPLs Gone

Safetran signals were installed over a year ago at Rockville Maryland on CSX's met sub.

Saturday morning, I was in Rockville dropping off my dad at work around 6:30 am, and on my drive back up 355, noticed that one of the new Safetran signals had it's targets aligned going down the tracks as oppsed to towards them.

Horrors, I thought, they're finally taking the CPLs down.

I went up to the MARC train platform, and the Safetrans were stil wrapped up. I waited 30 minutes for a train, but nothing came, so I got into my car.

Before I could start it, I saw 3 CSX MoW trucks go by on the road, and then a CSX crane. I thought "Oh no, I know what that crane is for!" and got back out.

I waited by one of the signals for about an hour until I could talk to the foreman of the crew.

He walked up, we exchanged hellos. Asked about an offer for a signal or two, he told me 2 were going to the Silver Spring Historical society (phew, preserved at a good home!) and that the other two were parts fodder for CSX (awwww gee).

Surprisingly, he thanked me for the interest (weird?)

Well, I guess I can stand Rockville (and I heard Kensington got taken down this weekend too), but I really would like a CPL or two from Derwood Dip interlocking... I've been watching those signals ever since I was first taken trackside.

Kinda lucky I suppose I just so happen to be there, I didn't have a clue as to when they were actually coming down.

Oh well, at lease I have the CPL dwarf from Frederick Jct !

Take care gentlemen.-Jeffrey
