From Santa fe tests 1942, class 100 diesels (EMD FT 4 unit set)
starting tractive effort 230,975lbs
at 13mph= 134,000lbs
at 25mph= 73,000lbs
at 40mph= 47,250lbs
at 60mph= 30,100lbs

As an interesting aside, the 5011 class 2-10-4 steamers
could provide more tractive effort and drawbar horsepower at any speed over 25mph, they just couldn't start as much tonnage, once rolling they had the advantage.

Don't have any of the above list, but "et al:"

Engine . . . . HP. . . . . . TE . . . . . . Weight
U25B . . . . . 2500 . . . . 81,000 . . . 260,000
F40PH . . . . .3000 . . . . 68,440 . . . 232,000
EMD F . . . . .1500 . . . . 57,500 . . . 230,000
Alco PA . . . .2000 . . . . 51,000 . . . 306,000
EMD E . . . . .2400 . . . . 53,080 . . . 315,000

Sources are various and I'm not sure I could find them all again. Alco PA is for the PA-1. I don't have any figures for the -2 or -3.
