Coal!

With the Thistle Mudslide of 1984 cutting the Marysvale Branch of the D&RGW, what coal was coming out of Salina ended up being trucked from the mine out to the loading facility south of Nephi (pronounced knee-fi --long i sound).

It is my understanding that production in the Salina Canyon mines has increased.

I also remember that it was just weeks after D&RGW announced in 1984 that they would not restore service on the Marysvale Branch that individuals were proposing this line--so it has been over 20 years "in the works".

Hope this is what you were looking for.
