Is it Steamtown's or is it Strasburg 89? Looks more like to me as Strasburg's.

Steamtown owned 89 until 1972 when it was sold to Strasburg. The engine was involved in the Hurricane Agnes flood in 72 while in transit in the Pc yard just south of Wilkes-Barre.

I don't think 89 was ever owned by Steamtown Foundation, but by Green Mountain Railroad Corp. Blount had a number of corporate entities, and they do tend to be thought of as "one". The 1246 and 1293 were likewise owned by GMRC until their sale in 1973 to Steamtown Foundation.

The Connecticut trip with 89 ran on the NH Armory Branch between East Hartford and Springfield, MA. Portions of that line (south of the CT-MA border) are operated as the shortline Central New England Rwy; the track is owned by CT DOT.

Imagine wood coaches and a steam locomotive moving south from Bellows Falls to Hartford in 2007--- it would be easier to take the train to Mars!

That's a great point, Howard. Anyone know of any problems or mishaps that may have taken place on that trip in 1966? That's a fairly long ride... (wonder if David Woodbury's coach No 1246 was in the consist?)

I'd be willing to bet a good dinner that it was "all in a day's work", with a minimal amount of supervision from a trainmaster or two on the B&M and NH.

Is there anyone still alive who may have been involved with that trip?
