Is this 0-6-2T in the 1962 photo the same as the one described below?

Best answer I can give is "probably". "Gordon", as in General Gordon (of Khartoum) is a military locomotive name and the profile of the loco in the picture is that of a generic South Wales 0-6-2T.

According to the preponderance of evidence at this site, I'll say "yes" as well:

http://www.deanforestrailway.co.uk/loco_tvr28.html

It spent many years at Caerphilly, which actually was the one to get it steaming again. It is, according to my books, the only surviving Welsh-built standard-gauge steam locomotive (maybe any locomotive) and may technically belong to the National Museum of Wales, unless they somehow swapped it over to the National Railway Museum-York.

This "Gordon" is not to be confused with the 2-10-0 600 Gordon at the Severn Valley Railway (last I heard/remembered), ex-War Department and Longmoor Military Railway.
