Post subject:  Big List of Underwater Steam Locomotives

Folks,

Those of you into hunting down every last steam locomotive in existence will be thrilled beyond belief by the September 2007 Railway Magazine (UK), which arrived in my PO box today.

In it is a six-page article on every known underwater steam loco, diesel, and railcar documented to have been lost as sea/in transit, from 1829 to 1991 for the steamers and 1940-1979 for the others. Two-thirds of the losses were due to submarine attacks during the two World Wars. Included with the list are underwater photos of a couple of the known wrecks, taken by divers.

Railway Magazine is available at some larger Borders/Barnes & Noble stores or newstands with international periodical selections, or see the magazine's home page at http://www.railwaymagazine.co.uk/ (no info on single copy purchases) and distributed in the USA by Worldwide Media Services Inc. of 115 E. 23rd St., New York, NY 10010 (nope, can't get a website or phone #--good luck...). I think they ask around $10 a copy on the US newsstands........
