The Eugene, Oregon roundhouse of SP has reportedly been razed within the last week. Does anyone have photos of the destruction?

Where did you hear this? I sure hope it isn't true since that was the last fully complete SP steam facility left.

I hate to be the one to confirm the destruction of the Eugene Roundhouse but, a moment of silence please.
Each year on one of the holidays, we travel to Eugene to be with family, and for me one of the big highlights of the trip has been visiting the Eugene yard. I have a freind with a few connections and in past years we prowled around the roundhouse and the CORP (former SP) backshop. This year at Thanksgiving my friend and I made our usual visit, but were shocked to find that the wood framed elongated stalls which I believe were built later to handle the larger articulated steam, were in the process of demolition. We hoped that this was as far as it would go. My friend called me earlier this week to say the rest of the concrete roundhouse was also demolished execpt for the stalls adjacent to the backshop which is still utilized by CORP.
In recent years UP has stored some of their serviceable passenger cars in the roundhouse during the winter monthes. I believe these are the pass. cars that are either in conjuntion with their steam program or thier "Operation Lifesaver" program that tours around the country. As the roundhouse had seemed in pretty good shape other than broken windows, I guess they didn't need the storage. What a shame!
