Post subject: Brit. new steam construction

I agree fully with Eric Ledbetter! Has anyone really looked at the 4-6-2's the Brits. have been building? Once they are built I wouldn't think they would be too hard to duplicate. How would one of them look like if it were Americanized? Would it be too difficult because of the original construction techniques being different than ours? I would love to see a drawing or mock-up of one. It would seem to me that engines of this size, including the Chinese 2-8-2 a'la J. David would be the real future of tomorrow's steam movement with the regional railroad's willing to make money from the "rail-nuts" and get free advertising, besides. Something the big, money-making monopolies don't have time for. The thing is, will the average American steam-enthusiast shell out the money like his British cousin? Personally, I think we are too stuck on making money for fun rather than spending it for fun and preserving our heritage!
