Post subject:  C&S 76

On a flatcar, probably in Denver after coming down from Leadville in 1943. I think that is the 74 behind it.

C&S 75 and 76 were sold to Peru in the late-1940s after sitting at Morse Brothers Machinery in east Denver for a few years (the 74 went to the RGS in 1949 and later a Boulder park). What happened to them in Peru is a mystery. Legend has it that one fell into a canyon and is still there, but no one really knows. Nos. 74/75/76 were built for the Colorado & North Western, running west out of Boulder. This later became the Denver, Boulder & Western. The engines got heavy maintenance at the joint C&S/CB&Q shop in Denver, reached via a third rail between Denver and Boulder before they were purchased by the C&S for the South Park line.
