The 900 pulled several excursions and was a fan favorite in the late-1950s. Here it was assigned to Denver, noted by the silver smokebox. Later reassigned to Cheyenne, it returned to the graphite gray smokebox there. It was cut up in Cheyenne in 1959, after a last run in July. The 641 and the wooden enginehouse where it stayed are still at Leadville, though the engine is not inside as it should be. No. 904, a coal burner unlike the 900, which burned oil, was retired in 1957 and stored at Denver until sale for scrap in December 1960, being shipped with several other engines to Houston, Texas to be cut up.
