Greetings All! Over the course of the last several days much has progressed. The remaining deteriorated components of the tender are ready to come off along with the end beams. We are having to remove the end beam backing plates, as well as several of the angle brackets at the corners where they meet the side sill, so that we may halt the rust jacking that has occured at these points. The tram wires are in final position and the shoes and wedges are roughed out(initial machining is completed). http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y107/j ... _1316s.jpg Our dome facer is mounted on the firemans side valve seat and a bracket to hold the drive motor is being finished. If all goes well there will be iron chips made tomorrow. photos: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y107/j ... _1322s.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y107/j ... _1324s.jpg Video: http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y107/j ... 1_1328.flv We removed a spring from the RR side frame, it is to be sent of as the pattern for the 24 new springs. I am in the process of "excersizing" that same spring in our press, the process consists of flexing the spring through it's full travel 100 times. This is being done to brake up all of the rust in between the leafs, rust can be seen bleeding out. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y107/j ... _1332s.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y107/j ... _1331s.jpg |
