Kudos to the preservation-minded Mexicans. I can't help feeling like they're thumbing their noses at us a little every time I see the two PAs parked next to each other at Puebla. "Nyah-Nyah! We've got TWO "operational" PAs in the same museum and you've got the stripped, rusted skeleton of one wrecked one sitting in storage somewhere in Oregon that may or may not ever get restored!" (Speaking of the museum-owned PAs only.) Still, I'm glad #17 and #19 are safely preserved in a dry place.

Hi,

Are there any sites that show photos of cabooses in Mexico?

Thanks, Roger

Roger,

I don't know for sure about a dedicated website for Mexican cabooses, but a lot of people have posted their pictures online at any of several websites associated with the different online forums dedicated to Mexican railroads. All you need to do to get started is type www.mexlist.com in your browser and hit enter.

Best to you,

Sammy

Onder,

D&H upgraded all four of their PA's to 251 prime movers about 1974. Perhaps someone else knows more about the details than I.

The four D&H PAs were rebuilt by M-K in 1974 to "PA4" status with 12-cylinder 251 prime movers and numerous other upgrades. There's a book out there (I have a copy) which fully details the rebuilds. Not sure what happened to the 16-244 prime movers, but before the MK rebuilds, D&H had to temporarily re-engine one of the units with a 12-244 when its engine went south. Doyle McCormack's "NKP 190" also has a 12-251 from a newer ex-BC rail M420.
