Golden Gate Railroad Museum is looking for four (4) wedges for 6x11 flatback journal brasses. The brasses are spares for 4-6-2 S.P. 2472's tender trucks. Alternately, we are looking for a drawing of these wedges. Any leads would be greatly appreciated! Check with Electric City Trolley Museum Ass'n., the volunteer group (NOT Electric City Trolley Museum & Station, the operating entity in Scranton). I donated some to them in 2003. Mike Trasino might be the contact. |

| Post subject: | Update: Wedges for 6x11 flatback journal brasses |
Status update 9-27-2007: Jason Sobczynski suggested I contact Magnus http://www.magnus-farley.com/products.htm, the traditional manufacturer of plain axle journal bearing brasses. Their primary business now is centrifugally-cast bronze traction motor support bearings and axle thrust bearings for EMD and GE locomotives. Although not listed on their website, they have a select few sizes of plain journal brasses available. They do not have any wedges for sale. Therefore - per Jim Boylan's suggestion - I mailed a RFQ to the Electric City Trolley Museum Association. Many thanks to Jason and Jim for their suggestions. Any other leads, and/or drawings, would be greatly appreciated. - Doug Debs |
