I noted this in Flimsies, concerning the upcoming move of this 4-6-2 in Illinois:

I have contacted the Wheels-O-Time Museum concerning the need to properly prepare the journals before the move, but I hope others knowledgable about long-dormant locomotives would do so also. They'd probably be better off immobilizing the drive wheels and sliding it on greased rails than rolling and damaging the bearings further. Their email address is below:

Bob -

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I just sent an e-mail to the Wheels-O-Time Museum, urging lubrication of all journals before the move.

Hopefully they will receive notes from others interested in the same thing. Perhaps if they receive enough e-mails, it will raise the awareness so that they will do things properly.
