MIDH 91 ran two sucessful trains for the Civil War Renactment on Saturday Sept. 29. The engine ran great pulling 4 cars. That evening she delighted the citizens of Hummelstown by running light from Middletown to Hummelstown to get a tender full of good Hummelstown water. Middletown water is too hard for her boiler. (Friday the fire company delivered the water by truck to M-town.) Sunday Sept. 30 we did some morning street running shoving the diesels up Brown Street checking for bugs. The only ones found were shutter bugs. She the ran a great 1 p.m. trip to the battlefield again with 4 cars. She will run again for fall foliage on Oct. 20, 21, 27, and 28. Please come out and ride a trip and not just chase so we can keep her in service. |

Hi Charlie, Thanks for the update - it's great to see the M&H back in Steam. I visited Sunday hoping more to photograph then to ride - I owe M&H $20.00! I hoped to make a donation by purchasing a ticket but chase instead. Unfortunately, I had only my AMEX and DISCOVER card which iare not accepted. I came back with cash but the ticket office and store were vacated rather quickly upon #91's return. I'll be back. I would imagine it's the kids that keep the tourist operation going but catering to the railfans might be beneficial. It's free publicity and a definate draw providing another revenue source. Might I suggest offering railfan days, or perhaps making 1 of the 2 or 3 runs a railfan run allowing some fans (even if at extra cost) to get off and click a few photos? I think it would be a plus for the railroad considering it's difficult access. A donation box in the store would be plus but a ticket to ride will work fine. /Mitch Top notch crew - my thanks for permission to grab a cab shot. And for those who have not seen the engine - she is unique and stunning in appearance. I'll post some pics in a day or so. |

Does the M&H have any vintage freight cars on the property? And a caboose? A photo freight might be interesting, and a good way to raise a few bucks for the railroad. Les |
