Mark, just in case you are wondering, I did not post this, but he has a point, especially considering what has been found on the Ks to date... :-)

On the 16th part of what I said was this.
"While the Army engine 611 would be an interesting example of a unique engine, it doesn't relate that much to your area, so I would spend the money and efforts getting more regional engines up and running like the 630 and 4501, before plowing any good cash into the USA 611. Also you have that CN pacific, and the K&T 10 I believe. Even that K&T 10 is more homegrown for your historical types in the area."

Oh yeah, don't forget the old girl needs a COMPLETE firebox...and "maybe" a "few" other things. (Not to mention the replica builder's plates that were stolen.) Bottomline: The more money you send, the quicker the "Oh-One" will be back. Anyone have about $350,000+??? Remember; It's tax deductible (like that helps anyone who reads this board). Let's break it down: 1 person to send $350,000; 2 persons to send $175,000; 5 persons to send $70,000; 10 persons to send $35,000; 25 persons to send $14,000; 50 persons to send $7,000; 100 persons to send $3,500; 250 persons to send $1,400; 500 persons to send $700; 1,000 persons to send $350; 5,000 persons to send $70; 10,000 persons to send $35; 25,000 persons to send $14; 50,000 persons to send $7; or 350,000 persons to send $1 each.

Can someone point out to me where that message was posted? Has it been deleted? I wanted to respond to it directly since it contains numerous errors and states "facts" that aren't really facts.

And who said TVRM was going to do anything with the USATC 611 in the near future?

The reasons why the 4501 is not being returned to service have been explained on this board and others. If those reasons don't meet someone's satisfaction, then I suppose they can flame me and TVRM.

For those interested, the K&T 10 needs a complete firebox replacement including 100% of the staybolts. This puts her way down on the priority list.
