Not sure if this overhaul has been finished or not. Photo info says it has. http://abpr2.railfan.net/abprphoto.cgi? ... CN0027.jpg |

Hasn't even started. Its not just getting an overhaul. Its getting a whole new boiler as soon as funds are available, but it already has been a long wait. 1057, the engine behind 136, is also out of service now. At the moment South Simcoe's trains are powered by a 70 ton GE. |

What happened to 1057? I was thinking of taking my son up for the santa trains this year, but not if there is no steam. The last time I was up there a volunteer said they hoped to have the new boiler in 2010 for 136. Hope they get something steamy running soon! Matt |

With the cost of steel going through the roof, who knows if the SSRy will ever have the money to put a new boiler on the 136. And at this point, 1057 may also need a new boiler. Joe |

Picture of 136 on South Simcoe's Santa Trains this past weekend. 1057 is out of service due to mud ring issues. |

She appears as she does in Kalmbach's "Canadian Steam!" I'd love to see CPR 4-4-0 #29 run through the shops and operated once again; Another fire victim. |

Please tell me this is not a joke. I was up there a few years ago and talked to one of the volunteers who said the boiler for 136 would not be ready until 2010(at earliest). I thought the last time she ran was in 2003. Whats the deal?!?!? Did they somehow get the old boiler to pass inspection? Will steam be running the rest of the Santa trains??? thanks, Matt |
