It appears the No. 1 and 3 drivers were once smaller diameter than the main set, enlarged with thicker tires to match.

This is an interesting photo of CN&W 4-6-0 #795. I didn't recognise some of the features so I went and started looking in CN&W Steam Power book to check it out. I found a picture on page 115 of CN&W #796 from an earlier time so it was hard to see any similarities. This photo here on RYPN shows a rather modified loco {my perception}. The boiler doesn't look like any I have seen in old photos either. Have never seen this style headlite on CN&W steam. I suppose being out in the boonies of the Dakota's it was repaired with what was on hand. Interesting also as most of the S and R series locos were scrapped 10 years prior. Wish she was still with us. Thanks for the photo, John.

Another question I had was that I did not know there was a turntable at Rapid City. If I recall, there is still a former C&NW roundhouse or enginehouse there, with switches instead of a turntable. Perhaps the turntable was removed at one point, but I'd like to know..
