Maybe someone can tell us more about this long-departed Baldwin demonstrator locomotive. Was this the one that had multiple V8 prime movers mounted sideways in the carbody?

BLW 2001 was one of a pair of cab units built c.1945 as demos, powered by a pair of 8 cyl inline normally aspirated engines--note the four stacks barely visible toward the rear of the unit--stacks for the forward engine would be on the opposite side of the carbody.

2000-2001 became NdeM 6000-6001 but had a very short service life there.

The experimental loco with eight V8 engine mounted transversly was never fully completed and the whole project aborted. It carried road number 6000 during its short life. The running gear was recycled about 1947 as SAL DR-12-8-1500/2 number 4500.
