Photo says Barstow in 1971. I thought it was stored at San Bernardino until moved to the fairgrounds at Pomona in the 1970s.

Bob,

The picture caption is wrong. Look carefully to the right of the locomotive and you will see the Moorish looking tower of the San Bernardino depot just behind the viaduct.

Wolf is correct in spotting the locations landmarks. Also in the near background is the Viaduct bridge. If you look closely you can see the track numbers painted on the bridge. From this location the roundhouse (not seen) would have been just behind the viaduct bridge and to the photo left.

The 5021 was at the fair grounds from 1956 when SP donated it to the Southern California Chapter until late 1961 when it was moved to San Bernardino. It was returned to Pomona after the Freedom Train left the fairgrounds in 1976. It was repainted two years ago.
