Yes it is. What's more it taken at Pine Creek's original location along Route 9. Note the "PCRR" lettering under the road number, Shay 6 wore those markings during her early years at Route 9 and later at Allaire Park. Two interesting bits. When Shay 6 was moved by truck from Route 9 to Allaire Park, she was under steam. She loaded and unloaded herself from the trailer under her power. Shay 6's whistle is world famous. The creators of the TV cartoon THE FLINTSTONES recorded audio of the Shay's whistle which became the whistle sound heard at the quarry when ol' Fred knocked off from work! Regards, Jim Robinson |

I also recall the late Edgar Mead, the well known narrow gauge historian and former trustee of the Steamtown Foundation, bought the Allaire Shay from Ely Thomas Lumber Co., and much later Pine Creek took ownership of it. I've heard a doctor in Cape May, NJ privately owns SS&S 2-6-2 No. 26. ~K.R. Bell |

Yes, NJMT bought the shay from Edgar's estate about 4 years ago or so. And yes, the #26 is still privately owned. Both are currently stored inoperable in the NJMT car barn along with 4-4-0T Lady Edith which was owned in part by Edgar Mead. The Lady is currently owned by NJMT. J.R. |
