Somebody veddy funny. Is the "Emperor of the North University" anywhere near the University of Southern North Dakota at Hoople?

It's in Daphetid City, just west of Gore. It was founded by a nondenominational group of socialists, labor organizers, and free-love radicals in counterpoint to Macalester College, Hamline University, the College of St. Thomas, Carlton College, and other J.J. Hill-sponsored pro-management agitprop fronts masquerading as institutions of higher education in Minnesota and the greater Northwest.

Look for the statue of their founder, noted 19th C Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen organizer Steve Weaver, in the Daphetid City square. Weaver's the one in the fedora with the strike-breaking union soldier holding a bayonet to his tush.

I do hear that ENU and Hoople are great ice-fishing rivals, though.

The caboose is from the Strasburg Rail Road. Those gentlemen in the second picture are employees Chuck Trusdell and Scott Lefevre.

When I worked on the C&NW we always admired the fact that DT&I crews had an outlet just inside the door where they could plug in a hotplate for their tasty morsels.
But we never could figure out how they dealt with the extension cords through switches and crossovers.

I admit to such shocking indiscretions from time to time ... I could plead the usual excuses - green crew; walking within a ten-mile radius of Walmart; not enough boiler coffee - but I'll fall on my sword and assure one and all it will not happen again. Long live enamel ware!

The comments of the esteemed Dr. Ledbetter notwithstanding, I was only a nondenominationalist for a short time, and usually was forwarded a bill for all amorous activity.

Brother Weaver has made some improvements to his caboose recently . . .

But as yet he has not managed to procure a Bishop's Safety Coupling Knife. If any of you can help him find one, let him know.

A great! series of shots, John. Thanks to all involved (there was obviously some serious thought and effort here) for putting 'em together.

But...
