Some years ago, I met with a guy in Newberry Springs CA (a bit East of Daggit) who had a bunch of old cabooses for sale, and who had build a neat rig for moving them where he would replace one truck with 2 axle "bogey" from under the rear of a semi trailer, and replace the other truck with a goose neck that would couple to a semi tractor.

It avoided the need for large cranes, and brought most cabooses down low enough so that vertical clearances weren’t a serious issue.

Unfortunately I can't find anything in my records on how to locate him and a recent side trip driving through a part of Newberry Springs didn't remind me of anything.

Does anyone know about the guy I'm referring to and how to get a hold of him?

I'd contact the Newberry Mountain Trailer Park, Newberry Springs, because they have a caboose that was likely moved by your mystery mover.

The Daggett Historical Society, Daggett, has also a caboose and might know your guy.

What caboose are you planning to move?

A kind correction on the spelling of Daggett, California.
If you use the other spelling to look up any information you will not find much.
The small town of "Daggett" is best known to railfans as the east end of the traditional Cajon Pass UP trackage rights on the ATSF. The traditional west end of those trackage rights is in Riverside, CA. Daggett is located 8 miles east of the well known city of Barstow, CA. Newberry Springs, CA is located a few miles east of Daggett on the ATSF Needles Subdivision. All of those places are certainly very exciting names for any Santa Fe Railway fan.
