Has anyone out there dealt with the issue of ADA-required tactile warning strips on boarding platforms? The requirement would seem to apply to railroad museums based on my preliminary reading of the law. For those unfamiliar with these, since 1991, the ADA has required the edges of passenger boarding platforms to have a bright yellow warning strip that is covered with a pattern of bumps. These are intended to serve as a warning to the visually impaired. These same bumps are visible at new sidewalk curb cuts.

Anyway, they are not very historic in their appearance, and I was wondering if anyone was aware of a loophole or alternate means of accommodation that could be used to avoid their use. I am also concerned that they may make the step boxes wobbly. I am sure everyone will want to get right on this just as soon as they are done putting ditch lights on their diesels and retroreflective stickers on their historic freight cars.
