My wife, who reads the "Beaver County Times" daily brought this link to my attention just this morning. Wayne Cole is one of her old school teachers and a friend of her family's. I had the pleasure of talking at length with Mr. Cole a couple of years ago as he was leading a tour of the historic Greersburg Academy in Darlington PA (home of the McGuffy Reader!). He is a meticulous historian, a bona fide old time freight train rider, and an excellent storyteller. Altogether an interesting character. I have one of his books, a history of the Youngstown & Southern. Can definitely recommend his work to anyone with an interest in Ohio Valley railroading. J |
