Aaron, You state your location as Washington, DC. Did you consider the Library of Congress? I have researched periodicals there before and had no problems. Reader Identification Card is easy to get, only takes about thrity minutes. Steve |

Look up Simmons Boardman in Omaha, Nebraska. I believe they may maintain an archive. Regards, Gerald W. Kopiasz |

The Center for Research Libraries is a lending library to member universities, of which there are several hundred. They have a good run of the Gazette and you can check their on-line catalogue. If you have a university affiliation (alumni status sometimes works) consult with their Reference Librarian. CRI will then ship it to the university library where you can access the matierial acording to their rules. For that matter, the Reference Librarian can usually find other sources on with a few on-line searches |

Oberlin College has them back to 1911, and I believe MIT has them too. These are considered a significant trade research reference of the era, so they are more common in academic libraries than you might expect. |

Add to above listing: Baltimore Streetcar Museum/Md. Rail Historical Library: pretty darned wide selection of Railway Age. If you shoot me your specific needs, I can check on the inventory for you. Museum open 10-4 every Wednesday (for the most part), and at least one Sunday a month, or if necessary by appt. Let me know if you need the latter. Copying/scanning services also available, at additional costs/fees. |

Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA has the Gazette all the way back to about the Civil War. I looked through most of them in researching my book on the Gainesville Midland RR here in GA. Doug vV |

You might try World Cat. This an catalog with over 10,000 libraries worldwide. I first found this site by a link from the California State Library. About the publication that you asked about: There was once two publications Railway Age and Railway Gazette one of these was published in New York the other in Chicago. They were combined in about 1910 to become Railway Age Gazette and then renamed Railway Age in 1918. |
