It is my sad duty to inform all that Tod Prowell passed on peacefully in his sleep last night. Tod was the most senior living member of the Rockhill Trolley Museum - he was member # 2. Indeed, he co-founded the museum with Louis Buehler some 46 years ago, was an officer and a long-term director of the museum. The depth and breadth of knowledge about trolleys, their technologies, history and operating practices was comprehensive. He was a talented trolley mechanic particularly with the electric end, retrievers and compressed air operated appliances. Tod played pivotal roles at the RTM. He was actively involved to the end of his life; he will be greatly missed. Sincerely, Jack Mowbray, Chairman Board of Directors Rockhill Trolley Museum |

That really is sad news. Tod Prowell was a friendly guy who loved to talk trains and trolleys and was always interested in helping others with various projects. In fact he just rebuilt a group of retreivers for us here at OERM earlier this year. We shipped the bad ones to him and he rebuilt them and sent them back. Don't know that he had ever even visited our Museum. He was also "Mr. Light Bulb", working closely with supplier Aamsco and others on reproduction vintage light bulbs. Tod will be missed. Here's a picture of him at the 2005 ARM Convention at RTY. He was serving as motorman on the EBT motorcar that day. |
