Movie should be in theaters May 22. Unfortunately, Essex Steam Train doesn't appear in the trailer. http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertain ... 7136.story Let's hope this summer brings more motion picture production companies to other rail museums. Sloan |

The Tribune only has the "teaser" posted. The official "trailer" was released a few months later: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsGaB52hfjc Here's a link to the screen grab from the official trailer featuring the train:
Photo from on set:
The film is set in 1957 -- and Indiana Jones gets flagged off a train on his way to the airport by the character Mutt Williams, portrayed by Shia Labeouf (pictured.) The filmmakers were already nearby in production at Yale, which was doubling as the film's "Marshall College." Bits of the train's cameo can also be spotted in a few of the TV spots airing right now and the provocative shot from the trailer is Labeouf's "entry" into the film -- through a cloud of steam no less! Hollywood has continued to employ a variety of steam locomotives lately, notably in There Will Be Blood, Leatherheads, and as this is being written, Public Enemies, which has also called into action Chicago's historic "L" cars for filming. Hopefully this keeps up and prevents "digital" locomotives from ever being utilized. KL |

I recall it fondly, but it doesn't quite count -- the entire movie was digital, which to me would be akin to watching a cartoon and commenting that they should have used real people it instead of hand-drawn characters. (Who Framed Roger Rabbit is exempt of course.) KL |

From one of the TV spots, and more on set:
Perhaps after the film is released, someone from Essex could discuss the operation's involvement in the film. |

Very cool commuter coaches, but all I can see is the modern engine in the old springer Harley. |

At least it had mufflers on it! (From someone who has to listen to the racket from the unmuffled versions every warm weekend.) |
