| Post subject: | Museums Urged to Take Public Finance Survey |
From AAM's Aviso for January 2008: Museums Urged to Take Public Finance Survey To give all museums an opportunity to participate, the deadline for the Museum Public Finance Surveyhttp://www.museumpublicfinance.org/ has been extended to Jan. 18. The short survey will provide a detailed look at the size and scope of public support for museums from federal, state and local governments, as well as help identify challenges this type of support may present and any funding gaps that exist. It is part of a larger study, conducted by the Urban Institute through a cooperative agreement with the Institute of Museum and Library Services, to examine how public funding is affecting museum services in the United States. To participate, visit the Museum Public Finance website. __________________________________ Added comment: To my knowledge, only two railway museums have participated in this survey. Even if you receive no public funding of any kind, it is importnant that your museum participate, as this is exactly the data which emphasizes that our sector within the museum community may be underserved. I implore those of you associated with operating museums to have a responsible officer of your organziation complete this very brief survey. |
