Hi All & Merry Chirstmass This appeared in the Portland Press Herald,,on Tuesday the 18th,,The Portland Company space,inclueing the Maine Narrow Gauge RR & Museum, is apparently on the market... Hi Pat, I spoke with Susan Davis at MNG this past week. The museum was not caught unawares by this development. While recent business developments have definitively delineated the museum's business interests from those of the Sprague family, the museum's landlord, cross-communications between both parties was never an issue. Because of this positive relationship, the museum has been able to quietly develop several alternate courses of action in advance of the recent announcement. Not surprisingly, there are a number of parties who are interested in hosting the MNG museum. The current alternatives include everything from remaining at the museum's current location (there are in at least three different scenarios for this), to moving to the Cumberland County Fairgrounds, or moving everything to Kingfield, Maine in Sandy River country. These are just the alternatives currently under active investigation, there are other possibilities that have not been as fully developed. The plan is to conduct a full SWOT analysis of each alternative and to pick the course of action that best ensures the museum's future. The situation remains fluid, but MNG's leadership remains active and is commited to the museum's long-term success. Best Regards, Glenn |
