Neat photo taken at Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania:

Ex-CP #1278 doubleheading with Strasburg's new acquired Decapod #90. Photo shows the 2-10-0 still with the extended smokebox given to her by former owner Great Western Railroad (of Colorado). It appears that the letterboard on the combine behind High Iron Company #127's tender has been recently repainted; perhaps reading HIGH IRON CO.? Also interesting is the Canadian National single sheathed wood box car with a wooden door yet! Wonder if any of these type cars so survived in some museum?

Number 90 still earns her keep at Strasburg. Will the 127 (1278) ever run again?

I remember that trip very well.

I think we all remember 1278 with great warmth. It is truely terrible that she was allowed to deteriorate to the condition that nearly killed her crew and cost a functional, modern, steam locomotive its service life. According to Ohio Centrals steam page, 1278 is repairable and awaits her turn in the dead line. I fear she may simply become a store of parts to maintain 1293. If so, I suppose a worse fate was meted out to most of her sisters. Repairing 1278 would be a coup, particularly with the type of damage she sustained, then the replacement or cleaning out of all her piping, gauges, and boiler scale. As it is, I think we'll see Mr. Jacobsen tend out on his new prize well in advance of this dainty little Pacific.
