The recent YouTube displays of Union of South Africa #60009 speeding by at 70+ m.p.h have been awesome. But here's one from the other spectrum:

The video of ex-Soo Line class B-4 #353 is rough at best. And the engine has some non-prototypical features, including a cowcatcher and a horrible supplemental whistle. But the Brooks built 0-6-0 does put on a rather nice show on a stiff grade at the Western Minnesota Steam Threshermen Association property at Rollag, Minnesota.

Simple steam, but a nice Christmas present to readers of RyPN. May each of you have a most joyous Christmas!

In the spirit of sarcasm, I would instead suggest that the true "opposite" of the majestic sight of an A4 at neck-whipping speeds would be a video of one of the two or three "dieselized" steamers (NRM Green Bay, Stone Mountain Scenic, or an 0-6-0 in Canada for a while) clanking by asthmatically, then derailing, rolling over, and catching fire. <:-)

This is a nice little engine. Running slow is what an 0-6-0 is all about so this one is doing just what it is designed to do. After years of struggling with the stephenson valve gear on PRR 643 I really envy these guys with their outside valve gear. I hope to see this one some day.
