Does anyone have a real update on the current condition of ITM's restoration of NKP light Mike No.587? Their website hasn't been updated since last April when they say the flues were removed and the boiler was prepped for a wash.

I'm assuming they have to do all new Form 4 paperwork to get the boiler fully compliant with current FRA and CFR standards?

It would be great to see 587 and 765 both steamable at the same time once again.

Thanks in advance,

Rob Gardner

We visited that Museum in September. I'm sorry to say that I did not have enough time to get any technical details on the status of their work (we were part of a group tour, that rode the excursion train, but had very little time budgeted for touring the rolling stock).

What I observed: The barrel and firebox were stripped bare (the cab was removed as well). There were several people who appeared to be working on the boiler, while we were there. We were told that it was being readied for inspection (or words to that effect).

That's the extent of my report.
