Post subject:  Harry E. Percival Jr., Dec 29 2001

It is with great regret that I announce the passing of one of Maine's men of vision, Harry E. Percival, Jr. on December 29, 2001 from complications from cancer.

Harry was responsible for the establishment of the WW&F Railway Museum in 1989. It is thanks to Harry's vision of restoring the railroad since age 9 that the Museum is where it is today. In the 1970s he befriended Alice Ramsdell, owner of WW&F #9 (ex SR&RL #6) and other WW&F equipment. Thanks to that friendship the equipment is on home rails today.

While the discussions on this board usually deal with restoration/preservation methodologies and what locomotive is running where, it is also important to remember the often one or two individuals that held the spark of hope for the preservation or restoration of something that nobody else thinks is possible. Harry was such a person.
