Saw this picture of Great Western 75 at the Golden Spike celebration. What other locomotives were involved in all this besides 75 and 759? Is there any sort of "official history" of this event in print or on the web? Just curious; it was a little bit before my time. |

759 was involved only between Harmon, NY and Kansas City and return. UP wouldn't let 759 on its tracks, and handled the Golden Spike Limited west to Utah and back behind its own E8's. |

The UPRR would not allow us to run our power, NKP 759 on thier railroad as they deemed her to be "unproven and unreliable" according to thier then CEO Kennefick. He was wrong, but he was also the last word. The UP pulled us west of Kansas City and back using thier then spanking new Centennial series dismal #6900. Ross Rowland |

Does UPRR assume all liability when it requires a consist to be handled by it's power? |
