Having read the whole thread on Ross's legacy, one point seemed to be missed. I'm sure Ross will be the first to tell you that he didn't do these things all by himself - He led the teams that achieved all these things. In Ross's case there's a whole long list of those who 'labored in the trenches', people like Steve Wickersham, Don Smith, Dave and Scott Lindsay, Keith and Ron Muldowney, Roger and Valerie Jersey, etc. and so forth. The railfan press and community heeps praise and adulation on the team leaders but ignores a lot of the people who contribute to the operations. Marty Knox |

I certainly agree. What ever become of some of these people like Wickersham and others? |

Let's not forget the Emerick Brothers (Jack and Bob), the McCown brothers (John and Bob), Hank Weber, John Willever, Wes Camp, Russ Shipman, Rudy Morgenfruh, among others. It was quite a ride.... |

And let's not forget all the NRHS chapters and other railfan organizations that worked hard to sell tickets to the various Chessie Steam Specials and Safety Expresses, and the various private car owners and/or transit agencies who provided rolling stock for those specials......... ....... and not just for Rowland's projects, but also for the Southern and NS programs......... |

I think Tom Mayer from Chicago was a hard worker on those projects as well. He helped us with the 1522 and was first class. |

Don't forget a young fireman on the Chessie Steam Specials named Tim Sposato, who went on to be one of Jerry J.'s mainstays in the OC steam program. |

Marty Knox is of course dead right. All the projects I've been involved in have taken the combined efforts of a whole team of dedicated men&women who put being part of something bigger than themselves at the front of the line!! I'm absolutely not going to start a list of folks who I have had the pleasure of helping get thier start in our industry, as I'd surely ommit someone by accident. Suffice it to say that a whole host of folks whose names are today well known in the industry cut thier baby teeth on one of our projects!! Nothing gives me more pleasure than that fact!!
